We are others-focused
THE MISSION
Everything we do is geared toward connecting with those who are far from God and helping them become followers of Jesus Christ! The heartbeat of First Church is to see lives changed by the power of God's Spirit. We believe that every person has a God-given purpose inside of them. When God's Spirit moves on us, we move closer to God's Plan for our lives.

The vision of First Church is to create a community of authentic believers and to witness a city transformed by the life changing reality of the gospel as people come to know Jesus.

EQUIPPING THE CHURCH
We realized that pastors, staff members, and volunteer leaders sometimes feel inspired but ineffective. We wanted to change that. Our annual Motion Conference, held in October, exists to equip and empower church leaders with practical tools to get the mission of Jesus Christ in motion. Our goal is to share resources, ideas, methods, systems, and processes that build healthy teams and grow healthy churches which in fact will reach the world.

OUR BELIEFS
What We Believe
We believe in One eternally existing God who created all things. God has revealed Himself to us as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit, with distinct attributes but without division of nature, essence, or being. Jesus Christ is God displayed in flesh. He is both God and man. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, through the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.
Jesus Christ came to reconcile us to God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. He was raised from the dead and now by grace offers eternal life as a free gift to all who follow Christ. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.
We believe that our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is expressed by calling on His Name in the waters of baptism. Water baptism is an act of obedience identifying with Jesus in death to sin, burial of the old nature, and resurrection to new life. We are baptized for the remission of our sins.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is active in the world today. Being filled with the Holy Spirit and developing the life characteristics produced by His indwelling are the privileges of all New Testament believers.
The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a Spirit-filled church and a bible-based church.
Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
